What do we do

Twocats pel Gospel is a choir with more than 70 singers. Our rehearsals take place each Tuesday in the Sant Ferran Church, Gran Via de les Corts Catalanes 406.

The concerts
We have performed over 60 concerts all over Catalonia, singing in churches, theatres, schools, and even public parks and squares as the Plaça del Pi in Barcelona, which has already become one of our obliged outdoor concert meetings. In May 2005 we performed at the Barcelona World Trade Centre.

Also the reasons of our concerts have been diverse: popular festivities, choirs meetings, weddings, anniversaries of institutions, inaugurations, support to associations and to solidarity initiatives, etc. We were at the closing act of the Tortosa Jazz Festival, and we have shared stage with other choirs, dancers and artists, like Monica Green, Migueli or Felicia Taylor at the International Gospel Award 2005 in Berlin (Germany).

During the course, TwoCats pel Gospel performs at least, one concert per month. These concerts could be open or private (weddings, private parties, etc.). Trying to be consequent with the group philosophy, some of these concerts are organized to provide support to solidarity initiatives promoted by different NGOs.

Gospel
Over two centuries ago thousands of people originating from Africa were brought to America and turned into slaves. They lived in non-humane conditions and found in music a way to express all their suffering. The cultural and religious mixture present at that time, originated what we today know as gospel: the expression of deep feelings as sadness, homesickness and hope, through deeply faithful rooted lyrics.

We, Twocats, are not slaves, nor Africans, neither is our situation comparable to the one lived by these people. But each one of us, in our own way, tries to relive the spirit of those people through their songs.

Our repertoire includes gospel classics, as well as adapted present-day themes from other currents of gospel and other genres.
